Thomas Glen Bodkin, 25 of Benton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. He was born January 22, 1988 of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Billie Bodkin.
He is survived by his son, Hunter Bodkin McDonald of Indiana, his parents; Tommy and Paula Bodkin of Benton, brother; Greg Bodkin of Benton, sister; Brittany Bodkin and her fiancĂ©, Trevor Harrison of Benton, nephew; Noah Harrison of Benton, grandparents; Paul and Glenda Stevens of Benton, Great grandmother; Bonnie Daniels of Oxley and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.
Kimberly Renee Kimsey-Harness, 48, of Benton, was loved and admired by many people. She was the first daughter of Susan Kimsey-Hitchings and Sanford Lee Kimsey. She was born in Benton, on April 1, 1965. She spent her childhood in Hot Springs and Benton. Kim graduated from Benton High School in 1983. During high school, she was a member of the Benton High School Marching Band, where she played the clarinet and performed with the flagline. After high school, she lived in several cities in Arkansas and eventually settled in Conway, with her husband, Richard Harness.
Doris Jean White, 79, passed away Dec. 20, 2013. She was born to the late Andrew and Elizabeth Barker on April 24, 1934, in Truman.
Doris worked for Walmart for more than 15 years and retired there. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is remembered for spending time coloring with her grandchildren and working crossword puzzles. Christmas was her favorite time of the year.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Conway A. White.
Rod Landers, 57, of Benton passed away Dec. 18, 2013.Â He was born July 17, 1956, in Benton, to the late Ruff and Ruth Rudder Landers.
Rod was a member of the Benton First Church of the Nazarene.Â
Joyce Irene Kackley, age 81, of Alexander, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013.Â She was born February 16, 1932 in Little Rock, Arkansas.Â Mrs. Kackley was a member of Collegeville Church of The Nazarene and a seamstress.Â She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Rosie Uebergang; her husband, Logan William Kackley; and a sister, Mabel Raiborn.
James A. McGee, 97, of Benton, passed away Dec. 19, 2013.Â He was born May 3, 1916 in Lambert, Mississippi to the late Charles and Ellen Trucks McGee.Â James was of the Baptist faith and served in the Navy during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle McGee, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors, several nieces and nephews.
Chapel services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at Ashby Funeral Home, with Bro. Kim Hammer officiating.Â Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at Ashbyâ€™s.
Jacob Stanley Lea, 61, of Malvern, passed away Dec. 16, 2013.Â He was born Jan. 31, 1952, in Red Springs, N.C., to W.J. Lea Jr. and Geraldine Shook Lea.
Jacob was a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock.
He is survived by his parents; two sons, Joshua David Lea (Dara) of Oklahoma City and Aaron Marshall Brandon Lea of Malvern; a daughter, Katherine Alexandra Lea of Benton; two brothers, Dr. Allen Kyle Lea (Tammy) of Springfield, Mo., and the Rev. Jay Carter Lea (Lisa) of Benton; and a sister, Andrea Karen Scallion of Conway.
Linda Sue Thornbrugh, 65, of Alexander passed from this life on Dec. 16, 2013, with her family by her side. Linda was born April 7, 1948, in Little Rock to her parents, Alvin and Elsie Puckett.
She enjoyed her time reading, playing bingo and sewing and loved to make things for her friends and family. Her greatest love, however, was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife and mother.
Mrs. Thornbrugh was preceded in death by her father and two daughters. Patricia Diane Meeks and Margeret Bearden. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Williams.
Loraine Jackson Tatum of Benton died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013.Â She was born March 24, 1934 in Traskwood to Clara Ashley Jackson and the late Charlie S. Jackson, who was killed in a car/train accident on Sept. 4, 1933, in Camden.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, L.M. Tatum.Â
Melba Rose McCarroll, 78, of Alexander passed away on Dec. 15, 2013, with her family by her side. She enjoyed going to flea markets and loved to travel and work in her yard.
Melba was preceded in death by her brothers, Hollis and Eldon Pickard.
