Hugh C. Stonesifer

Hugh C. Stonesifer, a retired Benton businessman, died Thursday at the age of 84 after a long battle with many continuing conditions associated with old age. He was in hospice care at the time of his passing.
Hugh was born Jan. 16, 1929, and passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 2013.
Hugh was preceded in death by his mother, Bodie Smith of Benton; a sister Billie Mills of Oklahoma; and many others as would be expected with living a good and long life.

Mildred C. Shaw

Mildred C. Shaw, 85, of Benton passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013.  She was born May 20, 1928, in Hot Springs to the late Charley and Bessie Wooten Blair.
Mildred was a member of Fairplay Baptist Church and worked at Saline Memorial Hospital in the X-Ray Department.
She was an excellent cook, seamstress and loving mother and grandmother.
Mildred loved working in her rose garden and canning fruits and vegetables.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Odis Shaw, of 66 years.

Dale Dean Smith

Dale Dean Smith, 76, of Alexander passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. He was an Air Force veteran, a member of the Bauxite Old Timers, a retired employee of Canteen Vending Co. and a graduate of Bauxite High School.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. “Smitty” and Dorothy Smith; and one brother, Don Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Glen Smith and Gary Smith and wife Carol; six grandsons; three great-grandsons; two sisters, Sherry Smith Rylander and Bonnie Smith Crowson and husband Dub; and many other relatives and friends.

Kenneth 'Ken' Prince

Kenneth "Ken" Prince, 68, of Benton passed away Nov. 27, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
He was taken gently into Heaven with his loving family by his side.
He was born Sept. 15, 1945, to J.R. and Dorothy Rayburn Prince in Newark, Ark. He graduated in 1962 from Benton High School.  After business school, he was a successful business man.
Ken was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.  He was preceded in death by his son, Todd Prince; his brother, Ronnie Prince; and his parents. 

Alice 'Punkin' Coleman

Alice “Punkin” Coleman, 61, of Mabelvale went to be with the Lord on Dec. 1, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 22, 1952, to the late, James and Allie Gilbert in Little Rock.
Punkin enjoyed singing, spending time with her children and grandchildren and especially her doggie, Sassy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, A. J. Gilbert and Otis Gilbert; and two sisters, Elsie Strickland and Nancy Crews.

Riley Plunkett Gill, Jr.

Riley Plunkett Gill, Jr., 91, of Benton passed away on Nov. 30, 2013. He was born in Little Rock to the late Riley Plunkett Gill Sr. and Minnie Reed Gill. He was a longtime member of Rose Hill Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Elizabeth Gill; a brother, Glen Ray Gill; a sister, Wilma Gill Grosenbaugh; and a nephew, William Lee Gill Jr.

Jim Lampkin

December 4, 2013

Jim Lampkin, 78, of Mabelvale passed away on Nov. 30, 2013, with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 25, 1935, to the late Perry and Ila Lampkin in Danville, Ark.
Jim enjoyed fishing, going to the lake with family and was always trying to find a good bargain. He retired after 20 years from Kellwood and then was the owner and operator of Midtown Billiards in Little Rock.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Billie Metzger.

Betty Jean Carman

December 4, 2013

Betty Jean Carman, 81, of Traskwood, passed away from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Nov. 30, 2013.  She was a retired nurse and active member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Traskwood.
Mrs. Carman was known for her generosity, especially to those going through difficult times.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Mae Shoptaw, and a brother, Raymond Shoptaw.
 She is survived by her husband, Winferd Carman; a brother, James Shoptaw; a sister, Phyllis Shoptaw; a daughter, Jayme Langley, all of Traskwood.

John D. Burris

John D. Burris, age 39, of Benton, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 from a year long battle with Amyloidosis.  He was born October 17, 1974 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  John was a member of West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, father and son.

Brian Lee Farley

Brian Lee Farley, 55, of Benton, born July 31, 1958, passed away on November 22, 2013.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Mary Farley.
Brian is survived by son, Brian Anthony Farley of Arizona. He is also survived by siblings, Mary Crews, Cathy Ballard and husband, John, Ray Farley and wife Terry, Pam Seay, and Patricia Russell and husband, Bill.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 3 at Fellowship of the Cross Worship Center, 1120 Reed St in Benton, with Rev. Bill Russell officiating.
