A Bauxite man was involved in an accident that caused the death of another man Tuesday night on U.S. 70 East in Garland County.
Chuck Elmore, 47, of Bauxite was eastbound in a 2012 Chevrolet on Highway 70 and reportedly did not see two people standing on the side of the road beside their vehicles.
Unable to change lanes, Elmore's vehicle fishtailed and collided with one of the vehicles, striking one of the drivers.
The victim was identified as Scott Andrew Burnham, 58, of Fort Worth, Texas, according to the Arkansas State Police.
Paul Daugherty, 26, of Benton was arrested Tuesday for allegedly beating a dog to death earlier this year.
Daugherty was transported to the Saline County Detention Center, according to Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer with the Benton Police Department. He has since be released on a $10,000 signature bond.
Daugherty has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
