The Bryant City Council was scheduled to meet this evening to discuss the 2014 budget. This meeting has been postponed because the 2013 financial information is not completed yet, said Mayor Jill Dabbs.
In previous meetings and workshops, city council Aldermen have said that they would like to see complete 2013 financial information before they begin discussing the 2014 budget.
It's hard to anticipate 2014 without knowing where the city currently stands financially, said Finance Director Dennis Edwards.
Benton police officers had several shoplifting incidents reported on Monday and Tuesday.
Walmart, Jcpenney, Best Buy and RadioShack were all affected.
Two incidents were reported at Walmart. During one incident, an employee reported he witnessed a woman steal some merchandise. In a different incident, an employee reported a counterfeit $100 bill.
An overturned tanker truck on Arkansas 5 caused a loss of electrical power for many residents this morning.
A truck filled with gasoline overturned on the roadway and struck a utility pole. Because of safety concerns and damage to the pole, the electricity was shut off in the area, according to Benton Utilities.
The power reportedly is expected to be out for about five hours. Residents affected include those living on Kenwood Road west of Highway 5 South, some people living on McCurdy and all of Wellington Pointe subdivision.
