Marva Joyce Reed, 69, of Benton passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.
She was born May 10, 1944, in Hot Springs.Â
Mrs. Reed retired from the Arkansas Health Center and was a member of Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church.Â She was a very proud member of the â€śBaseball Nanas."Â
Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Arvelee Teague; two brothers, Marion Lee Teague and Ronnie Teague; and a sister, Sherland McNeely.
David H. Wills, 60, of Sheridan, formerly of Benton, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Wills Sr. and Nerva Wills; and a sister, Lorella Carol Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Roseanne Henson; a grandson, Keegan Henson; two granddaughters, Heaven and Serenity Ross; brothers and sisters, Marvis Depew, Jan Leal, Pat Scott, Donald Wills Jr., Pixie Wiggs, Deri Wills, Margaret Thompson, Dennis Wills and Gina Gilmore.
Herschel Dean Yates of Benton passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.
He was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Carterville, Mo., to the late Cecil and Edith Yates.
He was named for Dizzy Dean, the Cardinal baseball player.Â He played semi-pro baseball for a short time.Â He retired from the Arkansas State Police as a sergeant after 25 years of service.Â While working in Hot Springs, he gave future Governor and President Bill Clinton his driver's test when he was 16.Â He was laterÂ head of security at theÂ Governor's Mansion and the state Capitol complexÂ while Mr. Clinton was governor.Â
Stephen Felton Berry, 43, of Bryant went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 16, 2014.Â
He was born July 2, 1970, in Little Rock to Jackie and Toni Green Berry.
Stephen graduated from Bryant High School, was a red shirt freshman for University of Arkansas, then completed his football career at Southern Arkansas University.
Stephen was a member of Bryant First Baptist Church. He loved fishing, football and NASCAR racing.
Stephen was a CNC operator for Coors Manufacturing.
Cloyd Stephen â€śSteveâ€ť Wiseman, 64, of Atkins passed away Feb. 15, 2014, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock.
He was born Jan. 26, 1950, in Missouri. Steve worked for the poultry industry in Northwest Arkansas for many years and later became an elder in full connection of the Arkansas United Methodist Church, serving churches at Jasper, Lepanto, Joiner, Hughes, El Dorado and Berryville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Velva Lee Wiseman, and a cousin, Gaylon Cope.
Petra Ann "Pat" Trejo, 45, of Bauxite, formerly of Sweetwater, Texas, died Feb. 11, 2014. She was born June 29, 1968, in Jacksboro, Texas.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Beginnings Church in Bauxite.
She had moved to Bauxite from Sweetwater in 1991,
She married Antonio Trejo on May 7, 1993, in Benton.
Funeral took place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at at McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater.
Burial was at Sweetwater Cemetery.
The Rev. Chris Stephens officiated.
Carlos Galindo and Patrick Qualls served as pallbearers.
February 14, 2014, is recognized nationally as the day of love. It is also the day that Reba L. Griffis, 81, of Benton, was promoted and transported to her everlasting heavenly home with Jesus Christ. With her entire family and best friend, Joe Fureigh, at her side, she made her final journey.Â Reba was born at home at the Bauxite Pumps on March 10, 1932, to a warm and loving family who lived there to operate the water pumps for the Alcoa plant located on the other side of Bauxite. Â
She was a lifelong, active member of Social Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Ronald Tedford â€śBobbyâ€ť Jones, 74, of Benton passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born Oct. 2, 1939 in Camden to the late Ernest Bengree and Carmen Marie McCullough Jones.
Â Mr. Jones was a computer analyst for the state of Arkansas and Alcoa Metals and taught math at Benton High School.Â He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the NRA.Â
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a decorated sharpshooter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Edward Jones.
Mrs. Lois â€śMaâ€ť Zuber Pelton, 98, of the Salem Community in Benton, died Feb.
Gary Wayne Howard, 53, of Alexander, went to be with his Lord on Feb. 12, 2014.Â Gary was a wonderful husband, son, brother, friend and colleague who always made you smile and feel welcome.Â
He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Howard.Â
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lisa, who loved and will miss him dearly.Â He is also survived by his father, Harvey Sr.; three brothers, Harvey Jr., David (Lea), Ted (Robert) and two sisters, Audrey and Debbie (Ricky).Â
A celebration of his life will be 3 p.m., Monday, Feb 17, at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton.
