CARLISLE - It is hard to believe that Head Coach Mark Smith and the rest of the Bauxite Miners could have envisioned a better start to the season than what they have. Sitting at 7-4 overall is not bad, but an impressive 3-0 start in 7-4A conference play has the program smiling already this young season.
CARLISLE - Other than being without electricity since Christmas, the Harmony Grove Cardinals were hit with another big blow when they fell hard to England on Friday, 80-52 in the Carlisle Holiday Classic. But despite not practicing and suffering one of the biggest losses in 2012, the Cardinals returned to Carlisle on Saturday and got back to their old ways of winning. After a hard and intense practice session just hours before getting on the bus, the Cardinals took care of business, beating DeWitt in a 57-27 rout of their own.
GREENBRIER ¬– The Benton Lady Panthers made it to the finals of the Battle at the Brier, but fell 30-28 in a defensive battle to the Rogers Heritage Lady War Eagles on Saturday night. Benton led the whole game until Lacey Murray hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 28-apiece and Brittany Ward hit the game-winner with five seconds remaining, while Benton could not get a shot off in the end.
CARLISLE - With the first third of the season on the books, the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals were sitting in a nice spot heading into Christmas break. Coming off of back-to-back conference wins over Fountain Lake and Episcopal, the Lady Cardinals had a little bit of a setback when they met England on Friday, falling in a close match 35-30.
