Regina Ann (Sanders) Foliart, of Benton, passed away April 16 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital.Â Regina was born September 5, 1945, in Tampa, Florida to the late Joseph and Mayrene Sanders.Â Regina was a member of Gateway Church.Â She loved the Lord and her family, especially her children and grandchildren.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jeff Grifford and her brother Randy Sanders.
Everett Taylor â€śBuddyâ€ť Grace of Sheridan, was born May 8, 1937 in Pasttorie Community near Pine Bluff, to the late Edwin and Elsie Taylor Grace. He was of the Baptist faith, had retired from International Paper Co. as a foreman, and had served in the National Guard at Grider Field in Pine Bluff for many years. Since 1966, he had been a member of Local 382, Operating Engineer Union and had numerous construction companies throughout his life. He enjoyed crappie fishing at Shouse Ford on Lake DeGray, and spending time with his family.
Judy Wilhite Speights, 70, of Romance, formerly of Benton, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014. She was born July 29, 1943 to O.J. and Evelyn Wilhite.
Judy loved spending time with her family. Her three grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, O.J. â€śMuttâ€ť Wilhite and Evelyn Cole Smith.
Wanda Jean Morgan, 45, of Haskell, passed away April 15, 2014. She was born on August 30, 1968 in Benton, to Allen and Glenda Blair.
Wandaâ€™s favorite pastime was her love of fishing.
Billie Lee Malloy Davenport, 80, of Benton, went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2014.Â She was born April 15, 1934.Â
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William McKinley Malloy and Marilee Malloy; one sister; and one niece.
Lanetta "Netta" Johnson Whitaker, 50, of Fort Smith passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014. She was born Sept. 4, 1963, and was of the Baptist faith. She loved God, family get-togethers and the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her father, Burks Johnson.
She is survived by her mother, Pat Drye Johnson; three sons, Jake Johnson, Monny Baber, and Trey Whitaker; one grandson, Darren Johnson; three granddaugh
HASKELL â€” After a year under Dwaine Fishburn as interim head coach, the Benton High School senior boys basketball team now has a full-time leader.
Following a 6-0 vote at Monday's Benton School Board meeting, 2006 Benton graduate and current Harmony Grove senior boys head coach Dexter Hendrix was named to the helm of one of the most coveted coaching positions in the stateâ€”Benton Panther basketball.
"I am very excited to go back to Benton and coach a great basketball program and help it continue to grow and take it to the next level," Hendrix said.
BENTON â€“ After losing half its team and majority of its contributors to graduation a season after making it to the 6A state semifinals, the Benton Panthers mirrored last season with another semifinals trip, only to lose to the 2014 6A State Champion Jonesboro Hurricane (Jonesboro lost 34-33 to Bobby Portis' Hall team in finals last season) for the second consecutive season. But after being picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the 7A/6A South Conference this past season, the Panthers exceeded all expectations to win the conference with a 12-2 record.
Roy Lee Wright, 78, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014.Â He was born March 14, 1936 in Benton.Â Roy served in the National Guard and was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.Â He was self-employed with diverse business interest.Â
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Sadie Wright.
Dean Estes Massey, 49 of Benton, passed away April 13, 2014.Â He was born March 7, 1965 in Little Rock to Bill Massey and Betty Chalk Massey.Â
In life, Dean faced many hardships and trials, yet he always faced them with courage and perseverance.Â He will always be remembered for his unrelenting positive spirit, generosity and caring friendship.Â Dean had an amazing capacity for love.Â He was an inspiration to anyone who ever met him.Â Dean was an exceptional man and will be greatly missed.
