Sports rivalries in Saline County have been apart of the counties history for many years. From Benton and Bryant to Bauxite and Glen Rose, Rivalries run deep in the blood of Central Arkansas sports.
The Bryant Lady Hornets improved to 2-0 in 7A Central conference play when they defeated the Van Buren Lady Pointers 49-46 on Tuesday in Van Buren.
Up 47-46 with 10 seconds left, Bryantâ€™s Kiara Moore hit two free throws to seal the game.
â€śMy kids played really well,â€ť Bryant Coach Brad Matthews said. â€śThe Democrat [Gazette] ranked Van Buren second in class 6A. Any time you win on the road, itâ€™s a good win.â€ť
Bryant Police Department is investigating an incident of alleged sexual misconduct involving a student and a teacher at Bryant High School.
Sgt. Todd Crowson said at press time that no arrests have been made. He noted that for now, the claims are simply allegations and said the name of the teacher accused in the incident is not being released.
"Due to the ongoing investigation in this case, we cannot at this time release any details regarding the alleged incident," Crowson said. "However, we will release further information that we can regarding this case as the investigation continues."
