Michael Lee Ivy

Michael Lee Ivy, 77, of Benton passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Hot Springs.
He was born Dec. 3, 1936, in McGehee to the late Thomas L. and Eunice DeArmond Ivy.
Mr. Ivy was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and had worked for the state of Arkansas in administrative services management. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of The Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, one brother, Teddy M. Ivy of Texas, and one niece also preceded him in death.

Driver not injured in vehicle fire

The cab of a tractor-trailer rig burned on the side of the road at the 110 mile marker of Interstate 30 west near Benton at approximately 4 p.m.Thursday. According to fire officials, the driver was not injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest a mechanical malfunction. Traffic was backed up into the Benton city limits near South Street for approximately one hour while crews extinguished the fire and removed the rig from the highway. Units from the Benton Fire Department responded.
