Ross unveils plan aimed at equal pay in workplace

LITTLE ROCK — Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Mike Ross has unveiled a plan aimed at ensuring equal pay for women in the workplace.

Ross was joined Friday by his wife, daughter and current first lady Ginger Beebe to announce his proposal, which calls for strengthening state law to prevent retaliation against workers who discuss their wages with colleagues.

Ross called his proposals bipartisan and says he's confident he could gain Republican support.

FBI investigating former Arkansas judge

CONWAY — The FBI confirmed it is looking into campaign donations made to a former circuit judge for his failed Arkansas Court of Appeals campaign.

The agency said it is investigating contributions that came from political action committees traced back to a nursing home owner who had a case pending in Michael Maggio's court. FBI spokeswoman Debra Green declined to comment because it's an ongoing investigation.

Lawmakers urge safeguards to stop Ebola spread

LITTLE ROCK — Members of Arkansas' House delegation have sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging his administration to take more steps to protect Americans against the spread of the Ebola virus.

Republican congressmen Rick Crawford, Tim Griffin, Steve Womack and Tom Cotton want the administration to consider implementing travel restrictions on countries affected by the virus and enforce immigration policies.

Friday's letter also expresses concern that people in affected countries could — possibly knowingly— be infected but not yet symptomatic and travel to the U.S.
