John David is one of 40 kittens the Humane Society of Saline County took in during one afternoon.

This kitten has been neutered, dewormed and given shots appropriate for this age, according to Ann Sanders, president of the society.

The Humane Society would like to encourage everyone to have their cats and dogs spayed or neutered, she said.

"It is currently kitten season and the shelters are full of kittens and puppies," Sanders said.
