Bauxite cracks down on waste hauling laws

June 5, 2014

Anyone hauling debris to the landfill without properly covering the load can expect to get ticketed.
An Arkansas law states that it is unlawful to transport litter, trash, or garbage unless the vehicle is covered to prevent its contents from blowing, dropping, falling off, or otherwise departing from the vehicle. This law applies to both individuals and commercial haulers.

Within the last 10 days, Bauxite police wrote one ticket and issued one warning that concerned this issue, according to Mayor Johnny McMahan.

Committee approves rabies clearance letters

June 5, 2014

Benton City Council's Community Services/Animal Control Committee met Tuesday night to discuss rabies clearance letters for the animal control department.

Terry Parsons, manager of Animal Control Services, was present at the meeting.

Parsons stated that the Arkansas rabies law requires any animal placed into quarantine under rabies suspicions to receive a clearance letter from a veterinarian prior to being removed from quarantine to prove that the animal does not have rabies. This releases the city from any liability, Parsons added.
