Cards stun Earle, 1 away from finals

March 12, 2014

CHARLESTON -- As if Harmony Grove basketball couldn’t get any more exciting, the senior boys proved Monday that there is no quit in them when it comes to post-season play. Looking to take a bit of the bite out of the Dogs, Harmony Grove (25-7) used more stellar defense and good guard play to upset Earle 64-61 sending the ‘Dogs out with an early exit.

Earnhardt's win right place at right time

February 25, 2014

The Daytona 500 is a spectacle like none other in the racing world. With turns too steep to walk up and a crowd of a hundred thousand-plus donning legends on its shirts and hats, the February event ranks near the top of all championships in sports entertainment.
But the events that played out on Sunday may never be done again. With gentlemen and gentlewoman starting their engines just after noon on Sunday, the race quickly came to a halt — a 6-hour, 22-minute halt. With rain pouring down and showing no signs of letting up, drivers and fans took shelter until day turned to night.

Hogs sweep opening series

February 18, 2014

FAYETTEVILLE - After routing Appalachian State ace starter Jamie Nunn in Friday's 12-2 season opener, some might have presumed the Saturday and Sunday games would be a piece of cake for the Arkansas Razorbacks,  No. 25 ranked by Baseball America  and hosting at Baum Stadium.
They would have presumed wrong. The Razorbacks, now 3-0, did sweep the now 0-3 Mountaineers but it wasn't easy.

Lady Hornets ready to be Reddies

February 14, 2014

BRYANT – There was little doubt in the minds of a duo of Bryant Lady Hornets of where they were going to college. Senior distance runners Marley Adams and Mikayla Douglas signed letters of intent to run for Henderson State University on Tuesday morning at Bryant High School, and the pair have known for several years they were to become Lady Reddies.
“I’ve wanted to go there since the seventh grade,” Adams said. “I just know they’ve had a really good team. I know upperclassmen that have gone there. It’s always been Henderson.”
