Gary Weems, 59, of Benton was killed in a single-vehicle accident around 3:40 p.m. Sunday in Garland County when he lost control of his 1999 Ford F-250.
According the the Arkansas State Police, Weems was traveling eastbound on U.S. 270 near Crystal Springs when his vehicle left the roadway, overturned and crashed into a tree. The truck's cab was crushed.
Weems was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:35 p.m. by Jayson Neighbors, Garland County coroner.
According to Hot Springs Daily, Weems was pulling a camper trailer at the time of the accident. The camper detached from the truck and broke in half.
Weems is survived by his wife, Karen Marshall Weems; six children, Brian Weems and wife Amanda, Brandie Tarron and husband Shawn, Andrew Weems and wife Susan, Amber Sanders and husband Billy, Jessica McDonald and husband Matt and Brittany Moorman and husband Drew.
Weems also had 12 grandchildren.
Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
In an unrelated accident, Michelle M. Huddleston, 60, of Little Rock was killed Sunday when her vehicle was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Samuel Phillip Yarberry, 16, of Bryant on Arkansas 5 near Owensville, according to a report form the ASP.
Yarberry was northbound on Arkansas 5 when his vehicle left the roadway on the right before overcorrecting and crossing the center line, striking Huddleston's 2007 Honda Pilot.
Huddleston was pronounced dead at the scene by the Saline County Coroner's Office.
Yarberry was transferred to Saline Memorial Hospital for injuries suffered in the accident. His condition was unknown as of press time.
Huddleston's death is the second in Saline County since Friday.
Gayle Moore, 39, of Little Rock was killed Friday on Interstate 30 in Benton when her 1997 Dodge Neon was struck twice in the rear end after her vehicle stalled in the center lane, according to the ASP.
It is unclear why Moore's vehicle was stopped in the middle of the interstate highway.
