Alan Wayne Dawson

Alan Wayne Dawson, 50, of Benton, left this life to join his Heavenly Father on June 29. He was born July 26, 1960, in Benton. Alan worked for UPS for almost 30 years and developed many close friends with both employees and customers. He enjoyed hunting, running dogs and fishing. Alan was a member of Tyndall Park Missionary Baptist Church and PST Hunting Club. He was known for his love and generosity to his family and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his dad, Dale Dawson; great-nephew, Wyatt Lawrence, maternal and paternal grandparents; and several beloved uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his mother, Bethel Dawson; sister, Karen Hammer and husband Kim; niece, Kayla Lawrence and husband Brent; nephews, Kameron Hammer and fiancée Harper Brown and Keith Hammer; great-nephew, Brayden  Lawrence; great-niece, Audrey Lawrence; his cousin by birth but brother-in-love, Bobby Harris; aunts, Virgie Harris Garner and husband, Don, and Dean Calaway all of Benton, and uncle, Ken Dawson of Bryant. He also leaves behind cousins whom he loved and considered his dear friends. Alan’s dogs, Radar and Little Radar will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ashby Funeral Home.
A funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home with Kim Hammer and Cecil Hyde officiating. Internment will be at Jacobs Cemetery in Grant County. 
Family comments: The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Alan at Saline Memorial Hospital, Saline Memorial Hospice and Home Health, with special thanks to Dr. Cartaya, Lori Wise APN, their staff and Dr. Porter.
