Benton 1st at First Tee

LITTLE ROCK – The Benton golf team competed at par-36 First Tee golf course in Little Rock on Wednesday, with the girls taking four of the top five spots in winning the nine-hole match over Harding Academy and Evangel Collegiate, and the boys taking second (130) behind Harding Academy (120).
The match wasn’t on the original schedule, but Benton Coach David Torres said the Panthers are trying to sneak matches in to get ready for the postseason.
“We are trying to play as much as possible,” Torres said. “Everything we do is geared towards getting ready for conference and state level coming up at the end of this month. I think we are so up and down because of our youth. We our trying to put lots of seasoning on our play with our schedule.”
Sophomore Krystin Coffman led the overall girls with a 48 with senior Karli Lipinski coming in right behind at 49. Junior Jenna Jamison came in third with a 50 and sophomore Savanna Simpson finishing fifth at a 54.
Senior Matthew Perry came in third overall, shooting a 42, sophomore Sam Eddington took fifth (43), sophomore Joe Adams seventh (45) and freshman Cole Treece ninth at 48.
