BENTON – The Benton Jr. High Lady Panthers defeated the No. 2 team in the conference, North Little Rock, in three games on Monday night in Benton. Benton won 25-21, 18-25 and 15-11.
"What a great match," Benton Coach Michelle Shoppach said. "We won because we played as a team and did things we have been working on all year; plus the cheer squad and the fan, mostly guys who acted like the Texas A&M yell leaders, were great. They provided lots of energy to take us over the edge for the victory."
Maggie Carson had 14 digs, Brooklyn Jensen had five kills and Lenzie Newman added four kills.
"It was a super job by a great group of girls," Shoppach said.
The eighth grade girls finished their season undefeated against other eighth grade teams.
"What a ride," Shoppach added.
The ninth grade will play in North Little Rock on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Conway White in the Junior High Conference tournament.
