BREAKING NEWS: Officer involved shooting in Alexander

Central Arkansas law enforcement officers investigate the site where a man was shot by an Alexander officer on Saturday. Limited details are being released at this time.

The Arkansas State Police is investigating a shooting involving an Alexander police officer and an unknown man that occurred on Saturday.
Alexander Police Chief Horace Walters said the identity of the person shot on Brookwood, near Lindsey Drive, and his condition is unknown at this time. The officer involved in the shooting reportedly told Walters that as she was driving along Brookwood, she stopped to speak with the man that was walking along the roadway. The officer also said the man had a weapon and he was fired upon by the officer, Walters said.
The man was rushed to Saline Memorial Hospital, but details of the injuries nor the status of his health is known at this time.
That is all the details that Walters said is being released until the state police release preliminary details of the investigation. Walters said the officer is "automatically" placed on administrative leave during the state police investigation, and that he will also have his own internal investigation.
