BREAKING NEWS: Suspects shot at by police have been arrested

July 3, 2013

Hot Spring County authorities arrested three suspects this afternoon in connection with the burglary of a Bryant fencing company that occurred about 3 a.m. this morning, leading to a chase and an officer-involved shooting hours later.
Melvin Bell of Texas will be charged with attempted capital murder and commercial burglary, said Lt. Scotty Courtney of the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

Ezell Brown and Quinton Brown, both of Texas, will be charged with commercial burglary and fleeing, Courtney said.
The attempted murder charge stems from an incident that occurred while authorities were pursuing the suspect this morning.
A Saline County deputy sitting at the Alcoa overpass reportedly observed the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle did not yield to the officer, but fled to Odessa Drive in Benton, where the driver rammed the deputy's patrol car.
The deputy fired shots at the suspect vehicle, Courtney said.
Two passengers then fled on foot and the driver fled with the vehicle.
The deputy continued pursuing the vehicle, which ended up by the Sevier Street overpass in Benton, where the driver fled.
The three were arrested near the 100-mile marker of Interstate 30 about 3 p.m. The suspects have not yet been booked and are being questioned by police at this time.
The deputy was not injured.
