Brooks Odell Nichols, 76, of Benton, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
He was born on April 22, 1935, in Camden.
He was a member and shepherd of the Gateway Church in Benton and was retired with 35 years of service from The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. One of his greatest accomplishments were his grandchildren. He enjoyed and attended all events that they were involved in. They were his pride and joy. He loved people and always welcomed them with an open heart. We have lost a true shepherd from God, but Heaven received with gladness a faithful servant of the Lord. His life influenced so many people and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, Nishia Nichols and Odell Nichols; brothers, Gary and Roger Nichols; and sister, Donna Jean Nichols.
He is survived by his three daughters, Deanna and Tim McAlister of Maumelle, Gay and Russ Passafiume of Little Rock and Kay and Mike McCauley of Benton; eight grandchildren, Jeremy and Jessica McAlister, Amy and Jason Parnell, Callie and Richard Glenn, Jennifer and Matt Piccino, Kelley Passafiume, Sarah Passafiume, Justin and Jenifer McCauley and Zac McCauley; two great-grandchildren, Kaylin McAlister and Landry Piccino and was looking forward to his third great-grandchild in November; brothers, Jim and Roland Nichols; sister-in-law, Rose Nichols; and a host of nieces and nephews and numerous friends who will miss him dearly.
Church service by Ashby Funeral Home will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Rock Church in Little Rock. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Dunn Cemetery in Hampton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ashby Funeral Home.
