Bryant man arrested for fatal stabbing

December 12, 2012

An argument at a home in Bryant late Sunday allegedly led to a man fatally stabbing another, authorities said.
Itzamanna Jiminez-Jasso, 34, of Bryant is being held in the Saline County jail facing a charge of second-degree murder and is scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday in Benton District Court.
According to Bryant police, about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a home in the 100 block of SE 3rd St. after receiving a call concerning a physical altercation involving a knife.
"Once the officers arrived at the residence, they quickly isolated the individuals in the driveway and entered the home," Lt. Jenceson Payte explained. "The officers entered the kitchen and found an Hispanic male on the floor with multiple stab wounds. The man was bleeding severely and was unresponsive; nonetheless, medical personnel who had been requested arrived and exhausted all lifesaving options."
Payte said a Saline County deputy coroner pronounced 35-year-old Ismael Tagle-Carreon dead at the scene.
"While conducting the preliminary investigation, officers learned that one of the men that they isolated — Itzamanna Jiminez-Jasso — had been arguing with Carreon, who at one point struck Jiminez-Jasso in the face. According to witnesses and statements, the argument escalated and then ended with Jiminez-Jasso stabbing Carreo in the chest and torso."
A Bryant police report noted that Jiminez-Jasso is the brother-in-law of Carreo, and another family member said Jiminez-Jasso called him after the stabbing "and told him what he had done." The report also mentioned that Jiminez-Jasso, who was sitting outside the home, was covered in blood. A family member also reportedly told police that both men had been drinking alcohol before the fight. Jiminez-Jasso reportedly registered a .04 percent on a blood-alcohol breath test.
Anyone with information about this incident, or other crimes, is encouraged to call the Bryant Police Department at 847-0211.
