Capt. Everett Eugene Donham
Arkansas State Police Capt. Everett Eugene Donham of Hensley died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Southern Trace Nursing Home in Bryant at the age of 82.
He was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Little Rock, the son of the late William Everett and Gertie Mae Palmer Donham. He was a member of Marlow Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, a member of Iron Springs Masonic Lodge and a member of Arkansas State Police Association.
Mr. Donham served as chief deputy for 10 years for the Saline County Sheriff's Office and had been employed for 30 years as captain for Arkansas State Police at the time of his retirement. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean war, having been among the "Frozen Chosin" during the Battle at the Chosin Reservoir. He also received a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Donham; and his wives, Pauline Donham and Peggy Donham, and the mother of his children, Jean Marie Mathews.
He is survived by his sons, Dale E. Donham and wife Linda and Brian E. Donham and wife Stacey all of Hensley; a stepson, Charles David Donham and wife Karen of Haskell; a daughter, Karen Wilkerson and husband Monroe of Hensley; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Johnson and husband Jerry of Sherwood; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Donham Gilliam of Hensley; a sister, Ailene Williams of Cabot; grandchildren, Everette and Tish Wilkerson, Staci Wilkerson, April and Jesse Flora, Samuel Donham, Alex Donham, Natasha and Richie Howard, Michael Donham, Stormy Donham, William Donham, Matthew and Michael Johnson, Cristy Bowen and Charlie Donham; 10 great-grandchildren and many fellow officers and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at East Union Baptist Church in East End with Brother Paul Roberts and Brother B.J. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in East End.
Serving as pallbearers will be the State Police Honor Guard.
Arrangements are by Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, April 10, at the funeral home.
