Catherine Stewart Buttrum Young

Catherine Stewart Buttrum Young, 59, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, at her home in Benton.
Catherine "Cathy" was born Jan. 21, 1953, in Little Rock to the late Floyd Mitchell Buttrum and Catherine Stewart Buttrum. She was a 1971 graduate of Hall High School and a 1975 graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Cathy was a certified public accountant and was employed by UAMS for more than 28 years. As the manager of cost accounting and decision support for UAMS Financial Management, she was highly respected by those she worked with and she absolutely loved her work.
In 2011, Cathy was one of the recipients of the UAMS Phenomenal Women Award. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Benton and active in the Friendship Sunday School class. Cathy was an amazing woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and friend. 
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Eddy Ray Young of Benton; two sons, Andy Young of Little Rock and Brad Young of Benton; a sister, Alice Adams of Little Rock; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Ruebel chapel. The Rev. David Jones will officiate.
A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Arkadelphia.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
