Duffy Dewey Benning

Duffy Dewey Benning, 80 of Prattsville, died Feb. 13 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. He was born July 14, 1931 in Prattsville, the son of the late Delmar Benning Sr. and Leona Ritchey Benning.
Duffy was of the Baptist faith and retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He served in Japan, Thailand and Korea and did two tours in Vietnam. After retiring, he graduated from Ouachita Vo-Tech in Malvern and later become the maintenance supervisor and taught at the school for more than 20 years. Duffy loved to fish and do yard work.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of more than 59 years, Charlene Louise Mayer Benning; a brother, Delmar Benning Jr.; and two sisters, Juanita Cupit and Jeanette Dixon.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Michael Benning and wife Cindy and Billy Joe “B.J” Benning and wife Brenda, all of Prattsville; five grandchildren, Michael and wife Rose of Sheridan, Matt and wife Kim, Mark and wife Tiffany, Jesse Benning and Katie Shoppaw, all of Prattsville; one great-grandson, Preston Benning of Prattsville; also many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb.16, at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home & Crematory of Sheridan
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb.15, in the chapel of Buie Funeral Home.
