Former Bauxite resident found dead in Mayflower
The search for a missing Bauxite native in Cabot came to a tragic end when authorities discovered her body in a hayfield late Friday.
Family members said that Allison Hankins, 22, walked away from her biological mother's home in the 5500 block of Bayou Meto Loop in Cabot around 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and had made no contact with family for days. A family member also told The Saline Courier that Hankins was "supposed to go to the Job Corps" and that Hankins left without a cell phone, wallet or other personal items.
Pulaski County Sheriff Office Public Information Officer Lt. Carl Minden informed the media on Saturday that the body of Hankins was discovered in a hayfield in Mayflower late Friday. The body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for positive identification and for exact cause of death, but Minden said that foul play is not suspected at this point.
A Mayflower man reportedly told deputies that he was in a hayfield near the 9300 block of Arrington Road in Mayflower late Friday when he noticed someone sitting against a bale of hay and also noticed the person holding a handgun in her lap. Deputies responded to the hayfield just after 10 p.m. Friday and discovered Hankins with what is believed to be a self-inflicted fatal wound.
Allison Hankins was born May 29, 1989, in Benton to Debra (Gilbert) Hankins and the late Allen Dale Hankins of Bauxite. Family said that Allison Hankins was "an excellent drummer and guitarist, enjoying all kinds of music."
Funeral service for Allison Hankins is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Peaceful Haven Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Dezort officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Avilla community.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 322 N. Market St. in Benton.
The family has requested that donations be made directly to the funeral home to help with the funeral expense, or memorials may be made to the “Allison Hankins Memorial Fund” set up at Arvest Bank.
