When Mark William Orr entered the world on Jan. 2, he became a celebrity.
The infant is Saline Memorial Hospital's first baby of 2013.
Mark William is the son of Chad and Krista Orr of Malvern.
According to Rebecca Jones, director of marketing and community relations, he weighed 10 pounds and 2 ounces and was 22 inches long when his birth occurred at 12:46 p.m.
"This is Krista's fourth baby and all have been born at Saline Memorial Hospital," Jones said.
Dr. Kim Smith delivered the child, she added.
Jones noted that Mark William's siblings are: Dylan, who is 9; Emily, 7; and Jeremiah, 2.
"The hospital presented the parents with a diaper bag full of frames, toys and diapers," Jones said.
"They also received a newborn photo session courtesy of K. Bullard Photography and a gift certificate and treats from Just Leave it to Liz in Benton," she added.
The arrival of the year's first baby creates excitement throughout the hospital, Jones noted.
"Everyone here is always excited to see when the first baby is born," she said. "We love starting the year this way with a precious new life."
