THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR A LARGE PART OF ARKANSAS.

.DAY ONE...THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT

A STRONG WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT MOST OF THE
STATE THROUGH TONIGHT. WINTER STORM WARNINGS...ICE STORM WARNINGS
AND A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY HAVE BEEN ISSUED.

A STRONG COLD FRONT HAS CLEARED THE STATE AND SUBFREEZING AIR WILL
CONTINUE SPREADING ACROSS ARKANSAS THROUGH THE NIGHT. AREAS OF SLEET
AND FREEZING RAIN HAVE DEVELOPED ACROSS THE NORTH WITH JUST A COLD
RAIN ELSEWHERE. BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL REACH CENTRAL
SECTIONS OF THE STATE LATER TONIGHT. BY THAT TIME...IT WILL BE ICY
IN MANY AREAS FROM LITTLE ROCK NORTHWARD. ACROSS THE OZARKS...ICE
WILL EVENTUALLY CHANGE TO SNOW BEFORE DAWN FRIDAY. HAZARDOUS
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM SYSTEM.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

THE WINTER STORM WARNING AND ICE STORM WARNING WILL BE IN EFFECT
OVER NORTHERN AND CENTRAL AREAS...WHILE THE FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY
OVER SOUTHERN AREAS WILL CONTINUE FRIDAY TO EARLY SATURDAY. FREEZING
RAIN...SLEET AND SNOW WILL CONTINUE IN MUCH OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL
ARKANSAS FRIDAY MORNING. ACROSS THE SOUTH...THIS WILL BE MAINLY A
RAIN EVENT. THERE COULD BE A BRIEF SWITCH TO FREEZING RAIN BEFORE
PRECIPITATION TAPERS OFF IN MOST AREAS DURING THE AFTERNOON.

AS FAR AS ACCUMULATIONS...THERE COULD BE SIGNIFICANT ICING IN A
SWATH FROM MENA AND WALDRON TO CLINTON...CONWAY...BATESVILLE AND
BRINKLEY. IN THESE AREAS...AMOUNTS COULD EXCEED A HALF INCH.
ELSEWHERE...AMOUNTS FROM A TENTH TO A HALF INCH WILL BE COMMON.

WINDY CONDITIONS WILL ACCOMPANY THE ICE...AND MAY MAKE MATTERS
WORSE. IF THE EXPECTED AMOUNTS VERIFY...WITH A BUILDUP OF ICE ON
POWER LINES...POWER OUTAGES COULD BECOME WIDESPREAD AND PROLONGED.

IN THE OZARKS...TWO TO MORE THAN FOUR INCHES OF SLEET AND SNOW COULD
PILE UP...MAINLY IN AREAS FROM FORT SMITH...MARSHALL AND HARDY
NORTHWARD.

THE FRONT IS EXPECTED TO STALL ALONG THE GULF COAST THIS WEEKEND. A
STORM SYSTEM ALOFT FROM THE SOUTHWEST WILL INTERACT WITH THE
FRONT...WITH MOISTURE PULLED NORTHWARD INTO COLD AIR OVER ARKANSAS.
MORE FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET MAY DEVELOP SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. AT
THIS TIME...IT APPEARS PRECIPITATION WILL BE LIGHT...BUT ANY
ADDITIONAL ICING WILL COMPLICATE AN ALREADY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.

WELL BELOW TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND. READINGS IN MUCH
OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL ARKANSAS MAY VERY WELL STAY BELOW FREEZING.

THERE IS STILL SOME FORECAST UNCERTAINTY. THE FORECAST MAY CHANGE AS
ADDITIONAL DATA IS RECEIVED. GIVEN THIS...PLEASE STAY INFORMED OF
EXPECTED CONDITIONS IN YOUR AREA AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
