February 19, 2013

Some tickets are still available for Saline Memorial Health Foundation's Heart of Saline Recognition Dinner scheduled Thursday night.
This year's event is a memorial tribute to two Saline Memorial Hospital physicians, Dr. Melissa Dockery and Dr. Brian Sudderth.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Bishop Park, 6401 Boone Road in Bryant.
Activities will begin at 6 with a social hour, followed by the dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tributes to the deceased doctors will follow.
Tickets are $50 each or $400 per table of eight. Dress is business casual attire.
Call 501-776-6746 to reserve seats or tables.
The tribute for Dr. Dockery will be given by her brother, Stansel Harvey, a former chief executive officer of Saline Memorial.
Harvey said he is pleased to be returning to speak about his sister.
“Melissa elevated the level of care in the Emergency Department to where it is today," he said. "I arrived at SMH in 1986, and it was a strong community hospital. Being able to be a part of setting a new direction was a great experience. Being invited back to talk about my sister is a treat."
He noted the combined years of commitment from his family to Saline Memorial.
“If you include my 10 and Melissa’s 20, our family spent over 30 years investing into the hospital," he said. "I’m very proud of where it is today.”
The tribute to Sudderth will be given by one of his friends and colleagues, Dr. Sam Taggart.
“I will frame my remarks around 'A Portrait of a Friend,'" Taggart said.
"Brian was a friend to everyone he met, regardless of their station in life. He was one of the most accepting people I have ever known. He had a strong desire to be someone who made a difference in life.
"One of his often repeated slogans was: 'Work hard, play hard, be joyful and compassionate.'"
