James Reed “Poppa D” Dreher Sr.

James Reed “Poppa D” Dreher Sr., 77, of Bryant, passed away at his home on Jan. 2. He was born Nov. 26, 1935 in the Ironton Community of Pulaski County ,to the late Evelyn Elise and James Floyd Dreher. He graduated from Fuller High School and retired from his position as a mechanical engineer at Reynolds Metals Company in 1989. James was a member of the Bryant Water and Sewer Advisory Board and a member of the Bryant United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Virginia; and great-granddaughter Tinlee Elise Dreher.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Patsy; son Jim Dreher Jr. and wife Credonna of Benton; daughters Yolanda Dreher of Little Rock, Genia Dreher Manley and husband Paul of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren Cody Dreher and wife Stacy, Kalin Dunning and husband Russ, and Cooper Manley and Hudson Manley; and sister, Dorothy Groff and husband Phil of Port Orchard, Wash.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5 at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Hammett Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Chapel Cemetery in Little Rock. Pallbearers are Cory Mitchell, Ryan Atwood, Danny Golden, Brian Golden, Cody Dreher, and Russ Dunning.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Ashby’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ivy Chapel Christian Church, 706 Ivy Chapel Rd., Little Rock, AR  72206.
