Jimmy Richard Smith, 83, of Benton passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014. 
He was the son of Richard and Floy Smith, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by an infant sister, Louise; and his brother-in-law, H. A. Steele.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertha Mae Dobbs Smith; a daughter, Deborah of Benton; two sisters, Patsy Smith Steele and Pam Smith Newcomb (Gary) of Benton; two brothers, Ronnie Mac Smith (Brenda) of Benton and Robert “Bob” Smith (Sue) of Pine Bluff; and several nephews, nieces and close friends.
Jimmy was a member of Northside Church of Christ. He retired with 30 years of service from Executone of Arkansas and served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War.
He was member of the local Masonic Blue Lodge, then became a Shriner and later a 33rd-degree Mason . He also served as a DeMolay Dad for several years and was involved with the Longhills Junior Golf Program for 10 years.
A graveside memorial service was held Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Old Rosemont Cemetery with Joel Lewis officiating.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charities.
