Joe W. Mitchell, age 105, of Benton, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. 
He was born Oct. 15, 1908, in Center Ridge.
Mr. Mitchell was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member and deacon of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.  He was the owner and operator of Mitchell’s Barber Shop. 
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Barbara Mitchell; his wife, Hazel A. Mitchell; and 12 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Danny J. Mitchell and Jim Head; a grandson, Phillip Booher; and a great-grandson, Avan Booher.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Ashby Funeral Home with the Rev. Kim Hammer officiating. Burial will be at New Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation is set, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the funeral home.
