Lakeside runs through Everett 19-0

June 24, 2011

BENTON — Lakeside scored 12 runs in the top of the third inning to defeat the Benton AA Legion Everett GMC baseball team 19-0 in three innings.
Benton used four different pitchers as Lakeside nearly batted around twice in the inning. A three-run home run by Lakeside’s lead off hitter was the big blow but Lakeside also managed a two-run single and a RBI double.
A bases loaded walk forced in a run as did a hit by pitch.
To start the inning, Benton starter Brad Neighbors allowed a walk and hit a batter before being replaced by Dylan Oliver. Oliver gave up a walk to load the bases and another to force in a run.
The next batter hit the two-run single. An error kept the bases full and Oliver plunked the next batter to force in another run. A second error by the short stop allowed a run to score.
Benton then brought in Tyler Turbyfill who gave up a RBI single to his first batter. Benton finally got their first out on a sacrifice fly that scored a run but Lakeside hit a RBI double. Turbyfill hit the nine hole hitter to put two runners on base.
Lakeside’s lead off hitter hit the three-run home run which gave Lakeside the 19-0 lead.
After a walk, Everett’s Tyler Lewis came in for relief and after allowing the first batter to reach on a single, he got the next two to fly out to end the inning.
Benton managed just one hit in the game — a single in the bottom of the third by Caleb Terry.
Lakeside scored seven runs in the second inning thanks to a seven hits in the inning, including a two-run home run.
To lead off the inning, Lakeside had a single, a RBI double with out one out and a RBI single. After a bunt for a hit, Lakeside’s lead off hitter had a RBI double.
A ground out to second scored another run and a single plated one more. Lakeside followed with their first home run of the game to take the seven-run lead.
