Larisa K. Hunter-Hampton

Larisa K. Hunter-Hampton, who was born March 4, 1980, to Reynae Cennett and Carliss Garner in Harvey, La., departed this life on Feb. 26, 2013, at Saline Memorial Hospice House. She was 32.
Larisa accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Marreo, La. Larisa later attended Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she was on the church drill team.
Larisa was married to Bruce Hampton on Feb. 26, 1997. Bruce was by her side on their anniversary Feb. 26, 2013, when Larisa left him to be with her Lord and Savior.
Larissa was loved by all she met. Her grandmother said that if you had to describe Larisa, you would have to start with her smile. Larisa had a beautiful smile that would light up a room when she walked into it. Larisa loved sports. Throughout her childhood she spent most of her time playing softball, running track or cheering at Martin Luther King Playground.
After moving to Benton, Larisa was employed by Saline Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a receptionist in the Radiology Department. Before moving to Benton, Larisa was employed at Bayside Nursing Home in Gretna, La.
Larisa’s family was the love of her life. Although she got to visit with her nephew, Anthony, only a few times before his death, she was proud of the newest addition to the family. Larisa was very proud of her brother, Ronald. for being accepted and signed to play football at Arizona State University.
Larisa was preceded in death by her loving grandfather, Clarence Hunter Sr.; her great-grandmother, Ellen Baptiste; a great-nephew, Devin M. Hampton; and cousins, Jennifer Lanaute and Calvin Jenkins.
Larisa leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 16 years, Bruce Hampton; four sons, Makiya Hunter, Brushawn Hunter, Brandon Hunter and Bruce Hampton III; three daughters, Breonnia Hunter, Aivante Hunter and Briante Hunter.
Also surviving are her parents, Reynae (Lisa) Cennett and Carliss (Robert) Garner; five brothers, Reynae Hunter, Ronald J. Lewis, Damarcus R.(Lisa) Hunter, Jordan Cennett and Renald J. Cennett; four sisters, Carissa Cook, Tymekia Hunter, Kashawn Bland and DyShiana R. Lewis; her mother-in-law, Mildred Hampton; her grandmother, Dorothy R. Hunter; several stepchildren, whom she loved dearly as her own; her dear friend and cousin, Enetra Hunter; her caregiver and friend, Dale Thomas; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A home-going service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Harvey, La. Arrangements were provided by Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
