Larry Wayne Wood Sr., 61, of Mabelvale went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2011.
He was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Tulare, Calif. Larry served in the U.S. Air Force as a firefighter for 20 years and retired in 1988 with the rank of master sergeant from the Little Rock Air Force Base. He was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mildred; a sister, Linda; a brother, Gene; and one grandson, Alexander.
Larry is survived by his wife, Judy Wood of Mabelvale; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Donny Wise of Bauxite; a son, Larry Wayne Wood II of Conway; a son, Corey Helton of North Little Rock; and a daughter and son-in-law, Alysha and Shane Oâ€™Cain of North Little Rock. He is also survived by three brothers, Bobby, Steven and Bruce; three sisters, Karleen, Carol and Terry; and eight grandchildren, Gavin T., Rebecca, Ashleigh, Diana, Alayna, Rachel, Joshua and Caleb.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Sardis United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Jones and Pastor Rick Porter officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 14, at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton.
