A Benton man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in the city, authorities said.
Roderick Spears, 19, is facing charges of residential burglary and felony theft of property. As of press time, Spears is being held without bond in the Saline County jail, pending a bond hearing Monday in Benton District Court.
Officers of the Benton Police Department reportedly responded to a report of a home burglary in the 100 block of Windstone Drive on Nov. 30 and found that an estimated $1,300 worth of items had been stolen.
Lt. Kevin Russell said detectives were "able to diligently work leads in the case" and those leads led to detectives obtaining an arrest warrant for Spears.
"Detectives are working on more leads in the case and more charges and arrests could be forthcoming," Russell said.
Anyone with information regarding this home burglary, or other crimes, is encouraged to call the Benton Police Department at 778-1171 or 315-TIPS (8477). Individuals also may send an anonymous crime tip to CRIMES (274637) with the keyword BNPD in the body of the text.
