Mary Gwyn Allen

Mary Gwyn Allen, 61, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Benton, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28. She was born in Benton on Oct. 6, 1951, to the late Richard and Mary Lee Hansen.
Mary Gwyn worked for numerous state agencies, the last being the Texas Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program in Austin. She also worked for the Arkansas Department of Health Infant Hearing Program. Her co-workers were more than just co-workers; they were friends. She loved watching films; playing with her pet cat, Sunny; listening to music; watching anything science fiction; and reading as much as humanly possible.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dewey Edward Allen III; her parents; and her great-grandmother, Elle Gwin Raper.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessice Schlinker and husband Brent of LIttle Rock; her mother-in-law, Jean West of Malvern; and sister-in-law Cindy Matthews and husband Terry of Malvern.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation is through Heart of Texas Cremation and Burial Service.
