Mary Maxine Crews, 83, of Gurdon went to be with Jesus March 15, 2011, from complications of Parkinsonâ€™s Disease, surrounded by family who loved her very much.
She was born Aug. 15, 1927, to the late Griffin Wright and Ester Newman of Jasper, Texas.
She was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, sewing and taking care of her cats, chickens and any other animal who showed up in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James A. Crews; brother, Charles Newman; and stepmother, Ocelene Newman.
Survivors are three daughters, Linda Ramos and husband Jacinto and Marilyn Parker and husband Terry, all of Benton and Julie Ledbetter of Bauxite; one son, Boyd King of Curtis; two brothers, T. W. Newman and Andy Dale Newman; six sisters, Cleona Hays, Louise Collins, Bertie Mallet, Glenda Roberts, Barbara Ellis and Velva Jane, all of Jasper, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a very special cat, Egie.
Graveside service will be at held at 10 a.m. Friday at Rose Hedge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
