NOTICE: Haskell City Council to hold monthly meeting May 13
The Haskell City Council will face an agenda with few items Monday night. In addition to the regular monthly reports from the various city departments, council members will hear reviews of several audits and hear a second reading of an ordinance to adopt retirement coverage for the city's firefighters.
Audit reports of water/sewer services in the city and of a legislative audit will be presented to the council for review and discussion. Also, a review and discussion of the city's parks use agreement will be held.
Under old business, a second reading of Ordinance 2012-2013 is planned. The ordinance authorizes the mayor and the city clerk/treasurer to "execute any and all agreements to adopt retirement coverage and other documents related thereto" for the purposes of enrolling the city's firefighters into the Arkansas Local Police and Fire Retirement System.
The ordinance is required by Arkansas law before coverage may be available. The ordinance had a first reading during the April council meeting. Three readings are required before a vote is taken.
The council will meet at Haskell City Hall at 2520 Arkansas 229. The meeting is open to the public.
