Panthers cruise again

December 3, 2012

Benton Panther junior forward Josh Bowling scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Panthers' 74-54 victory over the Wynne Yellowjackets on Friday night in the Searcy Bank Classic. Benton defeated Greenbrier 66-41 in the first round on Thursday.
The Panthers (4-0) also shot 29 of 33 from the free-throw line and led 31-18 at the half.
"The kids did a good job of getting the ball in to him," Benton Coach Chris Nail said of the Panthers finding Bowling. "[Wynne] played a 1-2-2 zone and the middle was open. He hurt them in the middle of the zone."
Senior guard Rickey Gipson had 12 points, senior post Graham Gardner had 10 points and nine rebounds, and senior guards Bryan Torres and Quinn Allen had four assists apiece.
Benton has defeated all four of its opponents this season by at least 20 points.
The Panthers played Searcy on Saturday in the tournament championship and results will be in Monday's sports.
