Pine Bluff defeated McClendonâ€™s Appliance 10-3 in seven innings Thursday night at Bernard Holland Park. Pine Bluff scored a run in the first, one in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, five in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Benton scored a run in the third and two in the sixth. Pine Bluff had 10 runs on eight hits and McClendonâ€™s had three runs on seven hits.
In the first, Ryan Bewley reached on a walk and after a passed ball would later score on a ground out by Levon Steward.
In the sixth, Ryan Besancon reached and later scored on a RBI double by Jacob Keeney. Chase Southworth later followed with a RBI single to plate Keeney but by that time Pine Bluff had a 9-3 lead.
Gene Dunkin was 1 for 2, Keeney was 1 for 3 with a double and a RBI, and Southworth was 2 for 4 with a RBI. Steward didnâ€™t have a hit, but did manage a RBI.
Keeney pitched five innings, allowing four runs on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Holden Hanley pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing five runs on three hits with a strikeout.
Coy Fitzhugh pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed a run with three strikeouts. McClendonâ€™s drops to 1-4 on the season and a 2-5 record in conference.
Benton will play Sylvan Hills Saturday at Bernard Holland Park beginning at 1 p.m.
