Pulaski County inmate escapes during transport
LITTLE ROCK — Authorities say a Pulaski County jail inmate escaped while being taken to the county courthouse.
Sheriff's Lt. Carl Minden says 30-year-old inmate Anael Castro-Hernandez escaped about 8 a.m. in downtown Little Rock. Minden told reporters that Castro-Hernandez escaped while being escorted with other inmates from a van into the courthouse about 8 a.m. Monday, but details of how he escaped were not released.
Minden says a shirt believed to have been worn by the inmate was found a few blocks from the courthouse and that a man matching his description was later seen near railroad tracks, but got away.
Castro-Hernandez was being held on rape charges and was due in court for a mental evaluation. Minden says the inmate was also being held for immigration officials and is considered dangerous.
