Renovation set to modernize SMH lobby
The front entrance to Saline Memorial Hospital was closed Friday morning and will remain blocked while a renovation of the area is completed.
"This project is 100 percent funded by the Saline Memorial Health Foundation." says Matt Brumley, executive director of the foundation. "We are so grateful to those who have contributed to the foundation and we are extremely excited to begin this project.
"I cannot communicate how grateful we are for our supporters, our co-workers, our hospital and foundation board of directors, and our community for making this happen.
" This is 'our hospital' and when people walk in our front doors they will experience a first impression of not only how excellent SMH is but an impression of the excellence of Saline County," he said.
"This is just the beginning of so many exciting things to come as the SMH Foundation delivers on our mission of 'Connecting Compassion, Service and Generosity for the Health of our community."
Additional entry points are available to visitors until the project is completed, which is expected to be in approximately 12 weeks.
"We have two alternate entrances — one by the mail lobby elevators— and we are also using the Health Education Building entrance.
"Signage will be placed throughout the hospital to assist visitors. We have also placed information in our local physicians offices," he said.
"The lobby area will feature a new area called 'Coffee Corner' adjacent to the elevators. A new reception desk and seating area is planned as well."
