SHERWOOD – Bryant sophomore Drew Castleberry shot a 1-over 37 for the overall boys’ medalist, but the Hornets barely fell to North Little Rock at The Greens at North Hills in Sherwood on Monday. North Little Rock shot a 173 to Bryant’s 170.
“The pin placement had to be the hardest ones they had available,” Bryant Coach Keith Dale said of North Hills. “The greens were cut short, rolled and sanded that morning making a put stick next to impossible. The kids had a very hard time.”
Freshman Tanner Caton shot a 44 for the Hornets’ second-best score followed by 46s from juniors Logan Moore and Peyton Sharp, and junior Nick Canale shot a 47 to round out the scores.
For the Bryant girls, senior Peyton Weaver came in second overall with a 43 “on a tough course”, according to Dale.
“The girls had a tough day also,” he said.
Sophomore Abby McGee shot a 52, senior Savanna Cathey finished with a 57, and junior Tiffany Robinson (62) and freshman Katy Edwards (65) rounded out the Lady Hornets’ total.
Bryant will again compete at the Greens at North Hills on Thursday.
