Wanda May Cozort Slaton, 83, of Hot Springs passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. She was born April 12, 1930, in Salem, to Oscar Cozort and Audie Bolen Cozort.
Wanda was a member of First Baptist Church of Hot Springs. Wanda sang in the choir at Wilson First Baptist Church for many years where she also taught a Sunday School class for youth. She was a volunteer at National Park Medical Center and volunteered with ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Her hobbies included playing cards (Canasta and Skip-bo), gardening, and watching her grandsons play ball.
She is survived by her four sons, David Slaton (Lou) of Dallas, Texas, Dale Slaton (Gerre) of Edmond, Okla., Don Slaton (Cathy) of Hot Springs, and Doug Slaton of Wilson; a daughter, Donna Vincent (Allen) of Benton; 10 grandsons, Sam Slaton (Sarah) of Dallas, Texas, Chris Slaton (Jenny) of Hot Springs, John Slaton (Amy) of Amarillo, Texas, Jim Slaton (Jaclyn) of Jasper, Texas, Ben Slaton of Harrison, Ray Slaton of Hot Springs, Wes Slaton of Harrison, Art Slaton of Hot Springs, Jake and Luke Vincent of Benton; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at First Baptist Church with the service to follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. John McCallum will officiate. Burial will be held at noon, Friday, Dec. 13, at Roller Swift Cemetery in Osceola, with visitation following at First Baptist Church in Wilson.
Serving as pallbearers are Sam Slaton, Chris Slaton, John Slaton, Jim Slaton, Ben Slaton, Ray Slaton, Wes Slaton, Art Slaton and Luke Vincent. Honorary pallbearer is Jake Vincent.
