Dale L. Harrison

August 18, 2014

Dale L. Harrison of Benton, age 73, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014.
He was born July 18, 1941, in Bauxite to Melvin and Verda O'Kelly Harrison.
He was of the Baptist faith, was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as an LPTN.
He is survived by two sisters, Jeanie Cockrill of Benton and Patricia Galipeault of Springfield, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lilla Mae Overton Harrison; and one brother, Terry L. Harrison.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Tulip Cemetery.

Darryl Wayne Shepherd

August 18, 2014

A memorial service and family visitation for Darryl Wayne Shepherd, 51, of LaVergne Tenn., will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, in the fellowship hall of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 14 Beaverfork Road in Conway, Ark.
Mr. Shepherd was born Oct. 13, 1962, in Little Rock, the son of Jack W. Shepherd (Sandra) and Carolyn Ward Crist of Alexander, Ark.. He passed away on July 6, 2014, at his home from complications of respiratory disease.

Earl Leonard Wagner

Earl Leonard Wagner, 96, of Benton, formerly of Hope, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Saline Memorial Hospice House.
Earl was born May 26, 1918, in Lafayette, Ind., to the late Edgar and Grace Wagner.
Earl was a Master Electrician, a Navy veteran of World War II, past president of Golden K’s in Hope and a past board member of the Hope HUD Board. He was also an active member of the Hempstead County Republican Party and a member of Hope First United Methodist Church.

Lena Wells Vaughn

Lena Wells Vaughn, 91, of Benton went to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2014. She was born in Alexander to Leslie and Wreathy McClain on Aug. 15, 1922.
Lena was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church in Benton. She loved to cook and prepared many wonderful meals for her family and friends.  During the 1950s she was employed by the Benton School District as a cook at Benton High School and volunteered countless hours at Saline Memorial Hospital.

Bryan Mark Kincaid

August 13, 2014

Bryan Mark Kincaid, 67, was born April 9, 1947, in Orlando, Fla., and died Aug. 12, 2014, at his home in Benton.
Bryan was a man of honor and faith, who truly loved God, his family and life. He was passionate about being an advocate for people with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Louise Kincaid.

Helen L. Harbison

August 13, 2014

Helen L. Harbison, 82, of Benton, passed away Aug. 11, 2014.  She was born March 30, 1932, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late D.W. and Sally Mills Beasley.  Helen was an avid gardener, canning lots of the fruits of her labor. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Johnny Ray and Paul Fremought Harbison; a brother, Louis Beasley; and a sister, Dorothy Beasley.

Rosco Eugene “Gene” Jones

Rosco Eugene “Gene” Jones, 83, of Benton, passed away August 10, 2014.  He was born July 2, 1931 in West Plains, Missouri to the late Sterling Rosco and Amy Edna Elliott Jones.  Gene was the owner and operator of Gene Jones Wrecker Service and Body Shop in Benton for well over 30 years.  He retired in 1993 and enjoyed working on lawn care equipment and spending time with family and friends.  Gene always had a joke to tell.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Troyce Ann Thornelle and Frances Louise Robinson, brother, Bobby Jones.

Joe Bob Niccum

August 13, 2014

Joe Bob Niccum, 57 of Haskell passed away August 9, 2014. Mr. Niccum was born June 25, 1957 to Bobby and Glenda (Ease) Niccum.
He loved playing drums, guitar and singing in church and listening to gospel music. He collected model cars and also enjoyed watching Duck Dynasty. He had a big heart in helping many, which included taking in numerous young people and homeless. Joe never met a stranger. Joe Bob was a U.S Veteren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother; Curtis Niccum.

Michael L. Hill

Michael L. Hill, 57, died on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at his home in Bryant.  Michael was born on September 5, 1956 to the late Nettie Mauldin and late Leroy Hill of Benton.  He was an Army Veteran, worked for the Veteran’s Administration and was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryant.

Glen Otis Ferrell

August 11, 2014

Glen Otis Ferrell, 80, of Benton, formerly of Batesville, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 9, 2014, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 10, 1933, to Colbert and Elocia Ferrell in Cardwell, Mo. Glen retired from Munsey Products in Little Rock and was a member of Avilla Missionary Baptist Church.
He will be best remembered for his unfailing love to his  family and for always serving their needs. He enjoyed reading, watching westerns, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and an occasional trip to the casino.
