Max D. Norwood

Max D. "Pops" Norwood, 73, of Little Rock passed away Oct. 16, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born April 30, 1941, in Malvern to the late Mildred Draper Norwood. Max loved fishing and spending time with his family.
Max was preceded in death by his mother; one sister, Susie; and three brothers, Charles, Cecil, and Jerry, all of Malvern.

G.W. Tyler

G.W. Tyler, 75, of Alexander passed away Oct. 16, 2014. He was born Jan. 24, 1939, in Carbon Hill, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Tyler and Lola Tyler; a brother, Gene Tyler; and the mother of his children, Mary I. Tyler.

Margaret F. Elliott

Margaret F. Elliott, 91, of Benton, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 19, 2014.  She was born in Gladys (Van Buren County) on Oct. 16, 1923.
Margaret graduated from Clinton High School.  She married the late James Walker "Doc" Elliott on Aug. 8, 1952. They were married 34 years before his home-going in 1987.
Margaret was a devoted Christian, who used her gift from the Lord to serve and help others. She was always there for her family — her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren — and always kept in touch with her extended family.

Florence Phillips Craig

Florence Phillips Craig, 101, of Benton, passed away on Saturday, Oct.18, 2014.
She was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Marion County to James Henry and Audrey Firestone Phillips.
Mrs. Craig was retired from the Arkansas State Hospital, Benton Unit, and was a member of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Jimmy Ellis Oglesby Sr.

Jimmy Ellis Oglesby Sr., 78, of Benton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014.  He was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Benton.
Mr. Oglesby retired from Alcoa as a mechanic and multicrafter. He was a member of Social Hill Missionary Baptist Church and BB&G Hunting Club. 
Mr. Oglesby was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Ferdinand Oglesby and Vera Myrtle Gray Oglesby; his wife, Arlene Delores Oglesby; a son, Gerald Paul; and a sister, Minnie Lea Green.

Troy Marvin Steele

Troy Marvin Steele, 70, of Bauxite passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.  He was born April 11, 1944 in Fort Smith.
Mr. Steele was a dspatch supervisor for Safeway/Harvest Foods and was a member of Brooks Bethel Baptist Church. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert G. and Effie Steele; and a brother, Milbren Hickman.

Norma Brown

Norma Brown of Benton, born Nov. 24, 1938, passed at the age of 75 on Oct. 17, 2014.
She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Norma loved her savior, family and friends. Her strength and devotion to God allowed her to survive multiple battles with cancer while taking care of her family.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ola Davis Brown; and her sister Collene Johns (Jerry).
She is survived by her brother, Ron S. Brown (Dee) of Albany, Ga.; a daughter, Lesa Baker (Mark); and a son, Darron Coffman.

Charles E. (Buddy) Smithson

Charles E. (Buddy) Smithson, 89, of Benton departed this life into eternal bliss on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. He was born July 29, 1925 in Malvern to Jasper and Georgia Smithson. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Buddy loved his family and enjoyed countless hours eating and hanging out with them.

Jackie E. Wright

Jackie E. Wright, 62, of Benton, passed away on Oct. 15, 2014.  He was born Oct. 19, 1951, to Max and Myerline (Gatlin) Wright in Little Rock.
He was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He had a special place in his heart for music and loved to sing.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandson, Tylor Wright.
