Bishop buries Hoppers

MOUNTAIN HOME – A one-out single in the first inning was the only hit Trey Bishop would give up for the game in a 9-0 Benton McClendon’s Appliances win over host Mountain Home Hoppers in the Twin Lakes Classic on Friday in Mountain Home. The win pitted Benton (first in its pool) against Jonesboro on Saturday at 4:30 in a single elimination format.

MOUNTAIN HOME – The Benton McClendon’s Appliances improved to 1-1 in the Twin Lakes Classic with a 6-3 victory over Batesville on Thursday in Mountain Home. Benton lost 14-3 against DeSoto, Mo., on Wednesday.
Leadoff man Tyler Lewis and No. 2 hitter Jack James remained hot and are providing a 1-2 punch for the McClendon’s at the top of the order. Lewis doubled to leadoff the bottom of the first and would later score Benton’s first run for an early 1-0 lead.

MOUNTAIN HOME – The Benton McClendon’s dropped a 14-3 decision to DeSoto, Mo., in the Twin Lakes Classic in Mountain Home on Wednesday to fall to 2-6 on the season. The McClendon’s will play Batesville today at 3:30 and will play host Mountain Home at noon on Friday.

Black Sox sweep Russellville

BRYANT – Along with former Bryant Hornet, Bryant Black Sox, and Arkansas Razorback pitcher Trent Daniel (drafted in the 17th round to the Colorado Rockies) in attendance, the Bryant Black Sox swept a two-game series against Russellville by scores of 3-2 and 4-1 on Monday at Bryant Hornet field.
