Glen Rose improves to 2-0 with win over Woodlawn

The Glen Rose Lady Beavers defeated Woodlawn 14-2 Monday after scoring six runs in the first, three in the second and five in the fourth.
“We hit the ball well especially for it being so early in the season,” coach Kyle Lem said. “I was actually surprised.
“They helped us out a lot too with their six errors.”
Hollie Boles led off the second inning with a double and scored on a triple by Rebecca Tuggle tripled in the gap. Tuggle scored the second run of the inning after Tiffany Houpt singled. Katie Peterson’s single with two outs scored Houpt.
“We had runners on base and we put the ball in play,” Lem said. “I was very pleased with our effort.”
Madison Jacobs pitched four innings, allowing three hits with three strikeouts and four hits. Houpt pitched an inning of relief, allowing a hit, two walks and three strikeouts.
“Some early miscues left them score their first run,” Lem said. “But we getting ahead of the count helped us out defensive wise.
“We are going to be OK. We are going to be competitive.”
Boles finished the game with two hits and Tuggle had a double, triple and two RBIs. Houpt had two hits with two RBIs and Peterson had a double and a triple. Kendall Jacobs had two hits with three RBIs.
The Glen Rose Lady Beavers will play at Central Arkansas Christian Thursday beginning at 5 p.m.
