James W. 'Bro. Mac' McDaniel

James W. “Bro. Mac” McDaniel, 79 of Benton, formerly of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 15. He was born March 3, 1933, in Robinville, Miss., to William and Josephine Walls Scott, but was raised by his grandparents, William and Lucille McDaniel.
He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. "Bro. Mac," as he was known to most. was a retired employee of IBM, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was very active in his church and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his first wife, Rosetta McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Jenkins McDaniel of Benton; two sons, Gregory McDaniel of West Hollywood, Calif., and Jamille Jenkins and wife Brandy of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Andrea Johnson and Angela Powell and husband Austin, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Leonard Scott and wife Nakgo of Chula Vista, Calif., and Joseph Scott of Oxen Hill, Md.; two sisters, Sarah Ingram and Famika Ingram, both of Atlanta, Ga.; a special cousin, Diane Rogers and husband James of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his extended family.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Parkview United Methodist Church in Benton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205; or Parkview United Methodist Church in Benton; or First Baptist Church 700 Kitchen St., Jonesboro, AR 72401.
