McClendon's fall in Mountain Home

MOUNTAIN HOME – The Benton McClendon’s dropped a 14-3 decision to DeSoto, Mo., in the Twin Lakes Classic in Mountain Home on Wednesday to fall to 2-6 on the season. The McClendon’s will play Batesville today at 3:30 and will play host Mountain Home at noon on Friday.
DeSoto would take a 1-0 lead early on, but the McClendon’s would lead 2-1 after the first inning when Tyler Lewis reached on a leadoff single and Jack James followed with a single of his own. After a strikeout, Trey Bishop would hit both runners in with a single, but would get doubled off when he didn’t make it back to first after Clay Holicer’s fly out to centerfield.
After a scoreless second inning, DeSoto would take a commanding 6-2 lead after scoring five runs in the top of the third. Benton would get a run back when Lewis hit a one-out double to start the bottom of the third and scored when James traded places with him with a double of his own.
But, Benton couldn’t get anything else going as 6-3 was as close as the McClendon’s would get. DeSoto added two runs in the fourth, one in the sixth and blew it open in the seventh with five.
